What is BYTES?
BYTES stands for Brief Yet Thorough Empirical Studies.
In the BYTES program students complete both compulsory and elective modules that are interdisciplinary; incorporating knowledge and skills from many different curriculum areas.
Students develop team work and communication skills, leadership capabilities and are exposed to new and exciting technologies.
For more information on particular modules, see the links to the left.
The MERC

The MERC, or McKinnon Exploration Research Centre was officially opened by Hon. Bronwyn Pike on Friday 2nd November, 2008.
This year's Year 9 Students will be the second Year level to work in the MERC and will benefit from the resources, including a lab of iMacs, laptops and data projectors.
And So It Begins ...

On Monday 2nd of February, Year 9 Students will begin their classes for the year, including their Introductory BYTES sessions.
Over the first two weeks, students will meet and get to know their BYTES Mentor Staff member and will work in their mentor groups on Teamwork, Communication and Leadership activities.
Students will then begin working on their Digital Portfolios, a task that will be ongoing throughout the year. They will begin by setting up their portfolio and creating and editing a video that introduces them to their mentor.
In Week 5 of Term 1 students will begin their 9Up module, involving trips into the city, visits by guest speakers and a research task that will culminate in a group presentation to peers, staff and parents.
